DPUK custom datatype

A DPUK XNAT instance extends the XNAT data model with two custom assessments, a standard set of scan type mappings and an additional attribute on a subject.   These assessments are then used in addition to the standard demographics and scan attributes supported in xnat to support the discovery of appropriate data in the Imaging Hub.

Custom Subject Assessments

The custom subject assessments are the DPUK Risk Factor assessment (dpukRiskFactorAssessment) and the DPUK Clinical assessment (dpukAssessment).

DPUK Risk Factor assessment

The Risk Factor Assessment is intended to be captured once for each subject.  The following image shows a screenshot of the form that is provided for entering the assessment manually. The APOE Genotype dropdown allows the following values: “e2e2”, “e2e3″,”e2e4″,”e3e3″,”e3e4″,”e4e4”.

DPUK Clinical assessment

The DPUK Clinical assessment captures diagnoses and cognitive measures and is intended to be captured longitudinally.  The following image shows a screenshot of the form that is provided for entering the assessment manually.  The MMSE and MCA assessment accepts values 0-30.  The Clinical Dementia Rating accepts values 0, 0.5, 1, 2 and 3.

Scan type mappings

When pushing data to the central xnat instance, a set of standard scan-type mappings is used to harmonise scans from mulitple centres.  These mappings can be made at the project level in the “Scan type mappings” or during the data-freeze process.  The following scan-type labels are supported:

  • 3D_T2
  • 3D_FLAIR
  • 2D_T1
  • 2D_T2
  • 2D_FLAIR
  • T2_STAR
  • SWI
  • REST
  • TASK
  • DTI
  • ASL

Subject extension

The subject datatype is extended to hold the DPUK platform subject ID.  This ID can link a cohort subject’s imaging data to other platform data, e.g. genomics or wearables data.
